Today we celebrate Yuvelis Morales, winner of the 2026 Goldman Prize for defending the Rights of Nature!
At just 25 years old, a defender of the Magdalena River and a community leader in Puerto Wilches, Colombia, Yuvelis has dedicated her life to protecting the waters that sustain her territory from the threat of fracking.
Her struggle is part of a global movement that recognizes that rivers are not resources: they are living beings with the right to exist, flow, and regenerate.
From the Global Alliance for the Rights of Nature, we are deeply honored to have been able to stand with her at this crucial moment and to recognize her leadership.
Defending the Magdalena River is defending life, and today, the world is listening. More information.
