As ‘out of control’ fires ravage the Amazon region, vital for global climate stability and biodiversity, with experts reporting the Amazon is in its worst state of the last 50 years due to deforestation and pollution, it is essential, now more than ever, to recognize the Amazon as a subject of rights. This would ensure its legal protection and the preservation of Indigenous communities’ livelihoods.
