In the Philippines, a powerful movement is emerging: one where faith, youth, and grassroots activism converge to defend the living world.
In Episode 9 of our podcast, Conversations with Mother Nature, we speak with Yolanda Esguerra and Candy Hidalgo of the Philippine Misereor Partnership Inc. (PMPI), a coalition of 250 organizations leading the national campaign to enshrine the Rights of Nature into law.
From the introduction of a Rights of Nature Bill in Congress to the vibrant HIRAYA youth camps and the SALAKYAG caravan that united thousands in a nine-day journey across the islands, PMPI’s work reflects a deep, faith-inspired commitment to ecological conversion: a call to recognize that humans and Nature are one community of life.
Yolanda and Candy share how this campaign is rooted in spirituality and solidarity, but also in action: empowering communities, inspiring young people to live a SAPAT (sufficient) lifestyle, and challenging destructive systems that harm both people and planet.
