🌿🌊 Feeling and thinking with the Arno river 🌊🌿
The project “Sentipensare con l’Arno” by A4C-Artsforthecommons is an inspiring initiative, developed in collaboration with curators, artists, and students, exploring a fresh perspective on the human connection with nature and the Arno ecosystem.
Drawing from indigenous cosmologies in Latin America, the project delves into ways to reconnect with the river and acknowledge it as a living entity with its own inherent rights. It is a testament to the belief in recognizing and honoring the rights of nature and rivers. 💧🌿
This journey began with the prestigious Biennale of Sydney in 2022, where A4C presented “Vilcabamba, de iura fluminis et terrae” and initiated the “Voices of Rivers” project. They brought their vision to life through the “Sentipensare with the Arno river” residency at the Murate Art District in Florence, Italy from 26 April – 25 May. 🎨✨
This Thursday, May 25th, A4C hosted the closing exhibition, where attendees discovered the incredible materials and artworks created by the collective during this transformative experience. A4C also hosted a talk on the Rights of Nature and rivers in Europe, endorsed by GARN Europe. 🗣️🌍
Speakers included Valentina Gensini (MAD Artistic Director and project co-curator), Renata Summo (project co-curator), and Rosa Jijon (A4C), followed by thought-provoking presentations by Zoe Lujic (Earth Thrive, Serbia) and Lea Corbière (GARN Europe, France). The facilitator for the session was Francesco Martone (A4C). 🎙️✨
The aim of this event was to ignite the conversation for a more harmonious relationship between humanity and the natural world.
