International Rights of Nature Tribunal – Paris France
Lisa Mead, Director of Earth Law Alliance, presents a new case for consideration to the panel of Tribunal Judges on the topic of “Depletion of Marine Life”as violations of the Universal Declaration of the Rights of Mother Earth.
“Lack of integrated ocean care and governance has allowed 67% of Regional Fisheries Management Organizations to report that fish stocks were recorded as depleted or overfished in 2012“. As shown in the map of regional fishery management, large segments of the Pacific, Atlantic and Indian oceans are not managed at all. These oceans are subject to devastating trolling, netting, dredging and other unsustainable and unregulated practices.
